Adolf Lachman - Visual Artist
Lachman is an artist of many trades - a sculptor, painter, conceptual artist, illustrator and talented musician. After graduating from the Prague Academy of Fine Arts he decided to turn his hand to sculpting and intensive computer graphic design in addition to painting. Lachman has worked as a Freelance artist and a graphic designer for various software companies, also dabbling in digital illustration, 3D rendering and computer game artwork.
Since 2005 he has been based permanently in the Czech Republic, where he actively participates in the presentation of contemporary art. What drew me to Lachman was his work on the game ‘Machinarium’ by ‘Amanita Design Studios’. It is a beautifully rendered and visually attractive game, combined with traditional artwork and unique imagery. Lachman became part of the Amanita design team in 2008 and fully participated in the games production. I particularly like the subject and themes of Lachman’s work as he is ‘fascinated by robots, old machines and the biomechanically bizarre’ blending both natural and steampunk elements.
